my fails have all been due to judgement, something i have been working on by trying to drive in places that i know will give me more experiences in fast thinking. thank you i have looked into getting a new instructor, she is lovely but i think i will benefit from a change.

At the moment you are putting the test as a priority before joining up all of the dots. Ask to go back to the easy stuff, find your confidence first, then get to enjoy easy skills on quiet roads and gradually revisit more complex skills. Get a few lessons from a different driving instructor if you can. If you drive carefully and safely you are the best solution (and antidote) to crashing, you should not crash if you drive safely (albeit you cannot control events outside of your control) No doubt you will look after your passengers as well? So you are in charge of the car when you drive and you can make a difference by driving as you have been trained? Not a reason to stress. Now when you drive, you are in charge of the car. Think about it this way - You were a passenger in a car which crashed, and little wonder you panicked when you crashed because the events were when you were out of control. When you are stressed, it is easy to get tunnel vision and to stop thinking.

I am so sorry you have failed three times, it must be very frustrating (& expensive) It's difficult to know without seeing you drive, or seeing where the faults are in your drive what are the causes are of the problems causing you to fail your test (speed, gears, position etc) Some driving faults can be because the basics are not fully embedded - The use of mirrors, or judgement, or the interpretation of the road ahead is all critical to how you drive safely Your stress is caused by your lack of confidence and of your ability and perception to control your car.
